José López
Franquelo and David Avenell manage the Hotel Balcón
de Cómpeta together.
José was born in Cómpeta and has worked in the
catering business along the Costa del Sol since he was young.
In 1989 he moved to Cómpeta to open his own bar and restaurant.
This was where he and David first met.
David, from Oxford, worked with this father until 1982 when he
began managing his own factory of spare parts for Land Rover.
He first visited Cómpeta in 1986 and bought a holiday
home. During his holidays David and José became friends.
Eight
years later he decided to move to Cómpeta.
When David sold his factory he and José decided to build
the hotel. Since 1996 they have managed the hotel on a daily
basis.
