Competa is a village of the Axarqu\u00eda, located more than 600 meters above sea level, at the foot of the<\/span><\/span> Tejeda and Almijara Mountains<\/a><\/p>\n

From the coast, as you ascend the A 7206 road, you can not even guess the web of houses and streets that give shape to this white village, built on the edge of the mountain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Many parts of Competa are entertaining to walk and always surprising. Their houses show Moorish, Roman and Christian traces. Among the streets is San Antonio, located behind the main square of the town and that divides the town into two neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

Its main monument is the Church of Our “Lady of the Ascencion”, although it also highlights the Hermitage of San Ant\u00f3n and the Gaud\u00ed panoramic viewpoint.<\/p>\n

In addition, on the first floor are exhibited works of local artists, many of them foreigners settled for years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The building that houses this museum, which also serves as a cultural center, was once the old Civil Guard Barracks. <\/span>From the 19th century, this magnificent building enjoys a sober but very peculiar style.<\/span><\/p>\n
